Registration: 18-HZX-2 (Dutch registration)

Exterior colour: Polar Silver

Interior colour: Black leather

Mileage: 42,927 km

This Porsche 964 Speedster is a collector-quality example of a rare open-top 911, presented in superb condition and with very low indicated mileage. Under the engine lid is an air-cooled 3.6-litre flat-six engine, producing 247bhp, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 42,927 km (26,673 miles).

One of only 936 examples built, the 964 Speedster was based on narrow-body Carrera 2 underpinnings, but featured some of the lightweight features of the Carrera RS – including Recaro bucket seats and simple door panels.

First registered in June 1993, this is an early example of the 1994 model year car, and the seller states that there are three previous keepers.

Today, it’s bodywork presents in very good order, with no known panel damage. The Polar Silver paintwork looks like it may be original, and the seller reports only minor blemishes – including some stone chips on the front bumper and front bonnet, as well as around the headlight rings and wing mirrors. There is also a light scratch on the front bumper above the registration plate. The car rides on 17-inch ‘Cup’ alloy wheels, which appear to be in pristine condition.

In the cabin, all of the trim is believed to be original, and the lightweight Recaro bucket seats with the body-coloured shells take pride of place. The black leather upholstery is in great shape, with some wear on the driver’s backrest, but with no noticeable discolouration or damage. Its RS-style door cards also present well, featuring fabric release pulls. The steering wheel and gear knob are in good condition, while the seller notes a small scratch on the handbrake lever. Original features are in place, including the Porsche CR-10 radio and cassette player.

Its last scheduled maintenance was carried out at 42,407km at Porsche Classic Center Enter in the Netherlands. Prior to this, services are also recorded at 39,243km at Porsche Centrum Pforzheim in Germany and at 32,003km at the same Porsche centre. During the current ownership, the V-belt and power steering belt have been replaced, along with the valve cover gasket, spark plugs, and radio fuse.

The most recent roadworthiness inspection was carried out in January 2019 in the Netherlands, and it is understood that the certificate is valid until early 2021. New Michelin Pilot Sport tyres were fitted at the front and rear in January 2018, and the car has covered just 520km since then.

Accompanying the car are all of the original handbooks, as well as the stamped warranty and maintenance record. The original tool roll is also present, which is in superb condition, as well as the tyre inflator and space-saver spare wheel.

This Porsche 964 Speedster is a stunning example of the limited-edition 911 two-seater roadster. As a compelling blend of Carrera 2 and Carrera RS elements, the Speedster has always been a favourite of serious marque collectors, and this particular 964 presents as a highly original car in wonderful condition.
